Scientia has extensive experience in developing user-focused documentation and training materials for government-supported defense systems. Scientia employees hold advanced degrees in Instructional Systems Technology and Information Science and possess hands-on and management experience on a wide variety of human performance improvement projects. This combined expertise and experience allows us to develop clear and comprehensive documentation and training resources in support of all phases of product design and development.
We follow MIL-STD and IEEE formatting guidelines to produce documents such as
- System/Subsystem Design Documents,
- Software Design Descriptions,
- Software Version Descriptions,
- Technical Manuals, and
- Software User Manuals.
To develop documents, we work closely with subject matter experts to ensure that a document is highly usable, relevant, and accurate. Strong documentation throughout the entire course of a project’s lifecycle is a critical component to ensuring end-product viability and success.
Well-developed training materials enhance a product by making it accessible and highly usable by end-operators. Our approach to training involves working through an iterative process of analyzing user tasks, designing appropriate instructional strategies, and developing specific materials that best support the task analysis and determined instructional strategies. Before finalizing developed training materials, we evaluate their effectiveness by testing with end-product-users to ensure that all necessary tasks have been adequately and clearly addressed. Additionally, we always work within the parameters of required formatting standards to present content and graphics in the most effective manner possible.
Scientia has the capability to develop the following types of training materials:
- briefing materials – PowerPoint presentations that detail and demonstrate product capabilities, written statements detailing product design for usability, written statements that detail our approach to training
- user/operator instructions — Software User Manuals, Computer Operations Manuals
- system installation and administrations documents –Software Installation Plans, technical manuals that detail necessary hardware set-up procedures
- tutorials or computer-based training (CBT) — Computer and/or web-based modules for training on key program features, written tutorials for use by end users/operators, written job aids for use as reference by end users/operators
We can provide on-site, instructor led training or web-based distance training for any products we develop. In addition, we have the expertise to evaluate existing training materials, assess needs, and develop solutions for improved human performance.
